Recreational vehicles (RVs) vary greatly, and your insurance coverage should match your needs. Motorized RVs typically require insurance, but even if you have a towable RV, having coverage is always a wise choice.

Whether you live in your motorhome full-time or use your camper seasonally, contact us to discuss an insurance plan that matches the coverage needs of your RV or motorhome.

What Is Included In RV Insurance?

RV insurance is available for both towable and drivable RVs. RV insurance typically covers liability, collision, comprehensive damage, and personal belongings, as well as protection for injuries or damage caused by accidents.

Drivable RVs

Drivable RVs, often referred to as motorhomes, combine living accommodations and driving capabilities into one seamless unit. Unlike towable RVs, these vehicles are designed to be both driven and lived in, offering a convenient and integrated travel experience.

There are three common types of drivable RVs: class A, class B, and class C.

Class A motorhomes stand out for their spacious, bus-like design, which includes full-sized bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchens. Class B motorhomes, on the other hand, are more compact and versatile. They often resemble camper vans and provide essential amenities such as sleeping areas, small kitchens, and sometimes a compact bathroom.

Finally, Class C motorhomes offer a balanced approach with many of the comforts of Class A models but in a more manageable size, making them ideal for those who need a blend of comfort and ease of maneuverability.

Towable RVs

Towable RVs, which include travel trailers and campers, are designed to be hitched to another vehicle like a car, SUV, or truck. These vehicles come in different forms, such as fifth-wheel trailers, travel trailers, pop-up campers, cargo and horse trailers, teardrop campers, and toy haulers. Each type has its own set of features and needs, and our insurance solutions are crafted to match the specific requirements of your RV.

Is RV Insurance Required?

In most states, insurance for drivable RVs or motorhomes, including at least basic liability coverage, is mandatory. Certain states may also require uninsured/underinsured motorist (UIM) coverage for these vehicles.

For towable RVs, insurance requirements are less common since auto insurance often covers these types of RVs while they’re being towed.

If you financed your RV, whether drivable or towable, your lender will likely require that you have insurance as part of the loan agreement.
